Birchbox x Vogue: Product Review
I've never subscribed to Birchbox, but when I saw they were doing a special edition collaboration with Vogue for their 125th anniversary, I was intrigued. The collection was inspired by the custom Vogue Anniversary Rose, a soft peach flower that smells amazing. All the products included are either rose-infused, rose-scented, or in the shade Vogue Rose.
HAIR: Ouai Rose Hair & Body Oil
As a fan of Jen Atkin, I was excited to try my first Ouai hair product. This hair and body oil has a pleasantly mild rose scent and is a nice lightweight serum to lock-in moisture at the ends of my hair and on my cuticles after applying lotion. As a follower of the liquid-cream-oil (LCO) method, this was a great third step!
NARS Soft-Touch Shadow Pencil in Vogue Rose
This soft and blendable pencil adds a baby pink shimmer to eyes, cheeks, and lips. The pigmentation is good, but it is a little fair for my lips. However, it's light hue makes a very pretty highlight on the high points of my face and in the inner corners of my eyes.
Herbivore Botanicals Rose Hibiscus Facial Spray
This facial spray had been on my wish list for months and was one of the reasons I just HAD to have this box! I've been following the Herbivore Botanicals instagram for a while, and I love their branding and breakdown of the all natural ingredients used in their products. As someone with drier skin, a spritz of this facial mist is a necessary midday refresher and boost of moisture.
Charlotte Tillbury Instant Magic Facial Dry Face Mask
Sheet masks are having a major moment with the growing popularity of k-beauty. And a mask by Charlotte Tillbury adds an extra boost of luxury to the already pampering experience. I was most excited about this being a dry sheet mask, meaning no rinse! The sheet goes on and feels totally dry, like a napkin on the face, and then works with the natural oils in your skin to stick on and work it's ~magic~. I was skeptical at first, worried that my skin wouldn't have enough natural moisture for this mask to work but I did notice results of a softer bouncier texture and a dewy glow.
Earth Tu Face Face Balm
This moisturizing facial balm has the consistency and texture of a very soft, spreadable wax. The feel is a bit heavy and toward the greasier side which will be great for me, especially in winter! The balm is also made with all natural ingredients and has a pleasantly mild fragrance.
rms beauty lip2cheek in 'Vogue Rose'
This is the product out of the whole collection that I use the least. It's a tinted balm meant for lips and cheeks. It's more of a Barbie pink that's a little bright for my complexion so I was not a fan of how it looked on my lips. But it does work nicely on my cheeks layered underneath my Becca Cream Blush that is an orange-topaz shade.
Aerin Rose Lip Conditioner
This product goes on pretty much clear with the slightest pink tint. It has the sheen and consistency of a gloss but with the moisturizing properties of a chap stick. It's great to layer over matte lipstick for a little shine and hydration or on its own as a nude gloss. I've also dabbed a little ok the center of my eyelids to add a dewy effect to gold eyeshadow which was really pretty in the summer.
Overall, I am happy with my purchase of this box, most of the products have earned long-term spots in my beauty routine. It was an excellent way for me to try new brands and products that I was curious about. I would post a link, but it was a limited release and is no longer available.
